Unlike other attractions listed above which are located in Karnataka, Bekal Fort takes you to down south, into Kerala. Located in adjacent Kasargod district, Bekal Fort is just about 70 km from Mangalore. Bekal Fort is well maintained monument, located right next to the ocean. Built in 1650, Bekal was under the rule of several popular kings in the region, including Vijayanagara Empire and Tipu Sultan, after whose death it fell into British administration. Read less

It doesn’t house any Palace-like accommodation and was built mainly for protection against sea bound threats.
