The pass had remained closed since September 23 following heavy rainfall. During this time, a lot of tourists got stuck at Battal, Chhatru, and Chandratal Lake, who had to be airlifted later.
Therefore, the opening of this pass comes as good news for the locals of Spiti Valley. For quite a long time, they had remained cut-off from Lahaul and Manali and were waiting for the roads to get restored.
Kaza SDM also mentioned that the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) had now engaged its workforce and machinery to widen the road for the movement of buses.
