Oymyakon is a locality in the Oymyakonsky District of the Sakha Republic of Russia. The locality is situated along the Indigirka River and is one of the coldest locales on Earth. During the 2018 winters, the temperature in Oymyakon, world’s coldest village, reached near-record lows. The temperature was so much so that the digital thermometer that was installed to appeal tourists broke as a result. <br/><br/>The temperatures dwindled to -62C in the region. The coldest temperature ever recorded in a permanently inhabited area was -68C in Oymyakon in 1933. <br/><br/>Even under the extreme weather conditions, the 500 people living in the village haven’t stopped from going about their lives as normal.<br/><meta content="cms.next" name="cmsei"/>
