Lucknow metro

Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) started its project in Uttar Pradesh on September 27, 2014. UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi party supremo Mulayam Singh inaugurated the 23-km north-south corridor on December 1, 2016. Lucknow is the first city in the country where women operators, Pratibha and Prachi Sharma, were given the opportunity to commence the metro trial.

The primary phase (Transport Nagar to Charbagh) will be operational for public from March 26, 2017.
The corporation has planned 2 phases and 33 stations for the entire railway route. The construction of phase 2 will commence in 2018. The entire project was budgeted for around Rs 6800 crore. Padma Vibhushan E Shreedharan, who has handled mega projects in the country like Konkan railways and Delhi metro, has supervised it.

LMRC has been registered under the Companies Act by the state government in 2013 to execute the metro-rail project in the city.
