Veteran writer-director Sagar Sarhadi breathed his last on Monday after a long illness. He was 88. Following a heart problem, he was reportedly admitted to the ICU of a cardiac care hospital in Sion recently.

Hrithik Roshan recently mourned the demise of veteran writer-director Sagar Sarhadi as he remembered his contribution as the dialogue writer for ‘Kaho Naa Pyar Hai’.

Senior writer-director Sagar Sarhadi, who blazed a trail with iconic films like Noorie, Bazaar, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Chandni, Deewana and Kaho Na Pyar Hai, was admitted to the ICU of a cardiac care hospital in Sion Monday.

Writer Sagar Sarhadi, who has to his credits films like ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ and ‘Doosra Aadmi’, passed away at his Sion residence on Sunday evening. His nephew, filmmaker Ramesh Talwar cites age as one of the factors that led to his demise. He said, “He was no longer the robust and abusive person that he was known for. Of late he had gone soft and subdued and also was not eating food, he often made excuses to avoid eating food. He had fallen in the house and hurt his muscles, he said bye-bye to us and left.''

Sagar Sarhadi, who wrote Yash Chopra’s sumptuous ode to romance, ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, and also directed ‘Bazaar’, a heart-breaking document on the ugly linkage between poverty, marriage and market, passed away at his residence in Mumbai on Sunday night. He was 87. “He wasn’t keeping well for some time and had even stopped eating,” his nephew, filmmaker Ramesh Talwar (‘Doosara Aadmi’, ‘Baseraa’), told PTI.
