The Madurai bench of the Madras high court on Monday gave four weeks to fill up the post of the chairman at the Tamil Nadu Private Schools Fee Determination Committee, which is lying vacant for the last nine months.

A contempt petition has been filed in the Madurai bench of the Madras high court seeking action against officials of the school education department for their failure to comply with its order to them to appoint the chairman of the Tamil Nadu Private Schools Fee Determination Committee.

The division bench headed by justice A Selvam gave this direction based on a public interest litigation filed by B Karthee from Andalpuram in Madurai.
