The scholarship includes a financial support of up to Rs 30,000 towards college fees, transportation fees, exam fees, hostel fees, mess fees and book fees. It also includes 100 hours of training for select scholars every year to enhance their skills and make them employable after graduation.
Also a part of the scholarship is internship opportunity with various corporates and startups and a volunteering programme, which requires the students to clock in 50 hours of community work every year.
“We started this scholarship after we saw that many students were dropping out after Class XII, not being able to afford college fees. This was a reality in most government schools, where 5% to 10% students are parentless or single-parented. For them, school education comes free but having to pay for higher education becomes difficult. The scholarship is designed in a way that these students not only get financial assistance, but also develop the skillset to become employable after their graduation,” says Karthee Vidya, founder, Team Everest.
Eligible students can give a missed call to 8955664410 before May 18 to apply for this scholarship.
