Fighting between the army and rebels in Myanmar’s Kachin state would not affect China-Myanmar oil pipeline passing through the troubled area, a top Chinese security official said on Saturday amid reports that Beijing is worried about the project’s future.

At least 15 civilians died and 10 others were injured in an air strike by Myanmar’s military on a market in Kachin state. The attack targeted a mining hub, with casualties including gold miners and shopkeepers, as tensions continue between the junta and rebel groups.

Several hundred Chinese are among the 2,000 odd people trapped in crossfire between security forces and rebels of the ethnic Kachin Independence Army in the Kachin state of Myanmar, according to reports reaching here.

Many people have been killed in an artillery strike at a camp for internally displaced people in Myanmar's Kachin State, among them women, children and the elderly, local media reports and sources said on Tuesday. Myanmar's junta and anti-coup guerillas battled over the country's jade mining hub Friday, a combatant and a local said, displacing desperate civilians as they vied for supplies of the precious stone. A local resident who asked to remain anonymous said around 15 civilians had been killed since May 28 and "some residents didn't dare to stay in the combat zone and have been displaced".

The US on Friday asked Myanmar to resolve the differences with minority ethnic communities through peaceful dialogue and not through armed conflict, and also end racial and religiously motivated discrimination.

The United Nations and its humanitarian partners are concerned about the safety of civilians in these areas," it said. "The Tanai area has seen heavy fighting since 25 January 2018. There have been reports of a number of civilians killed or injured."

The bodies of 33 people have been recovered from a landslide at a jade mine in northern Myanmar and rescuers are searching for at least three people believed to be missing, a rescue official said Wednesday.

The miners were collecting stones in the jade-rich Hpakant area of Kachin state when a "muddy wave" caused by heavy rain buried them, the fire service said in a Facebook post.

Rescuers have recovered 25 bodies while 14 people remain missing after a landslide at an unregulated jade mine in a remote region of Myanmar, emergency workers said Tuesday.Myanmar has been hit with torrential rain and floods in recent days and the landslide occurred Sunday outside northern Kachin's Hpakant township.

The United States has appealed to Myanmar to immediately shun its plan of a two-child policy for Rohingya Muslims.
