San Francisco police have arrested the suspect in a Molotov cocktail-style attack on OpenAI CEO
Sam Altman’s home last week. The police have charged the suspect, Daniel Moreno-Gama with two counts of attempted murder – one linked to Sam Altman and other linked to a security guard at Altman’s home, says a Forbes report. In its official statement, the SF Police Department said “Through the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause to place a 20-year-old male under arrest,” adding that “Charges are still pending at this time.”
While an arrest has been made, this remains an open and active investigation, the department stated.
Sam Altman’s home was attacked twice last week in less than 48 hours. People have arrested two other suspects in the case, who are accused of driving in San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood and firing shots.

Charges against suspect accused of targeting billionaire Sam Altman
The 20-year-old Daniel Moreno-Gama has been accused of possessing an unregistered firearm and damage and destruction of property by means of explosives. According to the Forbes report, Moreno-Gama was also charged with attempted arson and attempted murder. He is also accused of throwing an "incendiary destructive device” at Altman’s San Francisco home, causing a fire to an exterior gate.
Suspect had an “anti-AI” list
According to a Bloomberg report, Daniel Moreno-Gama was carrying an “Anti-AI” document at the time of arrest that included a list of AI CEOs.
Citing court documents, the report said that the list had a section titled “Some more words on the matter of our impending extinction” that talked about AI’s potential threat to humanity.
As per the report, Moreno-Gama was the apparent author of the document, described as a “three-part series”. In a section titled “Your Last Warning,” he wrote: “If I am going to advocate for others to kill and commit crimes, then I must lead by example and show that I am fully sincere in my message,” the complaint said.
In another document that was styled as a letter addressed to Altman, he wrote: “If by some miracle you live, then I would take this as a sign from the divine to redeem yourself,” the filing said.
What the San Francisco police said on arrest
On April 10, 2026, at approximately 4:12 a.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a North Beach residence regarding a fire investigation. At the scene, officers learned that an unknown male subject threw an incendiary destructive device at a home, causing a fire to an exterior gate. The suspect then fled on foot. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.The suspect's description was broadcast to all officers.At approximately 5:07 a.m., SFPD officers responded to a business on the 1400 block of 3rd street regarding an unknown male subject threatening to burn down the building. When officers arrived on scene, they recognized the male to be the same suspect from the earlier incident and immediately detained him.Through the course of the investigation, officers developed probable cause to place a 20-year-old male under arrest.Charges are still pending at this time.While an arrest has been made, this remains an open and active investigation.
