Thanks to Google and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), one can now track his journey in real time. To keep the tradition alive, Google and NORAD have opened their Santa trackers, allowing users to follow his route, explore festive activities and see where he’s headed next – all in real time. NORAD's long history tracking Santa was born in the year 1955. It began decades ago as an unintentional phone call from a child to the then-Continental Air Defense Command. As kids and elders called, officers played along. Since then, it has become a joyous occasion for families everywhere, showcasing the lighter side of NORAD's 70-year-old mission, says Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell. Google, on the other hand, started its Santa tracker in 2004.
