CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the recent major discounts on Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 for the Nintendo Switch 2 were a technical error. However, players who purchased the discounted games from the Nintendo eShop don’t need to worry. The developer of the games has announced that it will honour all purchases made at the mistaken price points.
The technical issue allowed players to buy Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for just $17.49 in the US, a 75% discount from its regular $69.99 price, making the base game plus the Phantom Liberty DLC expansion cheaper than the DLC alone, which typically costs around $30. The pricing error attracted numerous buyers before CD Projekt corrected the discount to $39.99, a 42% reduction, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition now costs $14.99 with a properly applied 75% discount.
Despite the "incorrect" pricing, CDPR reassured the community that players who bought the games during the glitch do not need to worry about refunds or revoked licences; the developer intends to stand by the sales made during the window.
What CD Projekt Red says Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 discounts on Nintendo Switch 2
In a post shared on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), the game developer wrote:
“The discounts for Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition displayed on Nintendo Switch 2 eShop in the Americas on December 22, 2025 were incorrect. The situation is a result of an error we made when submitting the discount. We have corrected the error and new discounts have now been applied. Purchases made at the previous discount rate are unaffected by this change.”Japanese gaming giant Nintendo officially launched the latest Nintendo Switch 2 console in June, marking a major upgrade to its hybrid gaming console. Launched globally, the new gaming console boasts enhanced graphics, improved controllers and expanded compatibility with existing Switch games compared to the original console.
With the Nintendo Switch 2, the company has maintained its signature hybrid design, making it easier to transition between handheld, tabletop, and TV modes. The Nvidia Tegra T239 processor powers the gaming console and features a 7.9-inch LCD screen offering 1080p resolution. It packs 256GB of internal storage and sports reimagined Joy-Con 2 controllers.
