Sharp has launched a new range of window air conditioners in India, and the headline feature is hard to ignore—it's the country's first window AC with active air purification. The technology, called Plasmacluster, releases positive and negative ions into the room to tackle bacteria, allergens, and odours while the unit cools.
The new lineup splits into two series: the Ryohu, an inverter model available in a 1.45-ton configuration, and the Ryohu-FS, a fixed-speed series ranging from 1.41 to 1.70 ton. Both are built to handle ambient temperatures up to 52°C, which covers even the most punishing Indian summers. The fixed-speed models throw air up to 18 metres, making them viable for larger rooms.
Twin rotary compressor, copper condensers, convertible modes
On the cooling side, Sharp has packed in a twin rotary inverter compressor, turbo mode, Coanda airflow, and a 4-way auto swing for more even air distribution.
The inverter series also gets a 4-in-1 convertible mode, letting users dial cooling capacity up or down depending on the situation. Both series use R32 refrigerant and copper condensers with anti-corrosion blue fin coating—practical durability features that matter in humid, coastal conditions.
Pricing starts at Rs 34,490 for the fixed-speed Ryohu-FS and Rs 39,990 for the inverter Ryohu. All models ship with a five-year comprehensive warranty; the inverter variant adds a 10-year compressor warranty on top. The range is available across major retail stores and online platforms in India.
