The much-awaited women’s exclusive tournament, the WWE Mae Young classic competitors were revealed on Friday during a Parade of Champions, streamed live across WWE’s Facebook page and YouTube channel from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida.
Among the 32 competitors from around the world slated to compete in the first-ever Mae Young Classic women’s tournament, are India’s
Kavita Devi, MMA fighter Shayna Baszler, international sensation and one of the best women’s wrestler in the world, Kairi Hojo, who will compete under her new name - Kairi Sane along with experienced wrestlers like Mia Yim (Jade from TNA), Santana Garrett, Abbey Laith (Kimber lee), Princesa Sugehit, Marti Belle to name a few.
WWE developmental brand NXT also has strong representation in Sarah Logan, Lacey Evans, Taynara Conti, Zeda (Juila Jules), Xia Li, Sage Beckett, Vanessa Borne and Bianca Belair and the list alos features popular independent wrestlers in Candice LeRae, Toni Storm, Nicole Savoy, Tessa Blanchard, Rachel Evers and former Straight Edge Society member Serena Deeb.
The first four episodes of the single-elimination tournament will be available on demand starting Monday, Aug. 28. Episodes 5-8 will be available on demand on Monday, Sept. 4. The final match will stream live from Las Vegas on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
The Mae Young Classic, named after
WWE Hall of Famer and one of the greatest WWE Superstars in history, Mae Young, will be called by WWE Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross, who will be joined on color commentary by four-time Women's Champion and WWE Hall of Famer Lita.
