John Cena took the final bow as an active WWE in-ring performer at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in December 2025. He wrestled his last match against The Ring General Gunther, which became a memorable match in its own right. However, just days after that, another major retirement took place, which was also acknowledged by The Never Seen 17 himself.WWE Universe is known to have some superfans who have regularly attended live events for years. One of those fans is known as 'The Brock Lesnar Guy' who first got noticed in 2012 when The Beast made his return to WWE. Since then, he had been in attendance for shows on a regular basis. However, he recently posted a video on social media leaving his iconic green skull and stripes shirt on a chair and walking away, while mentioning John Cena's farewell tour and also stating that he will be retiring from attending WWE shows. The 17-time WWE World Champion took notice and posted his photo on Instagram, acknowledging his contributions as a big part of the WWE Universe.

John Cena tapped out in his last WWE match against Gunther

John Cena has been inspiring millions of fans for years with his mantras of 'Hustle, Loyalty and Respect' and 'Never Give Up.' However, the scene witnessed during his last match at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event left the fans stunned. Cena squared off against Gunther and gave everything he had during his final in-ring encounter.
However, the dominant and imposing Gunther managed to tackle his every move and came back stronger with his own fury.In the final moments of the epic showdown, Cena had managed to survive multiple of Gunther's sleeper hold attempts. However, The Ring General did not stop and locked it in one final time. After Cena realised that he had given everything, he had a smile on his face and tapped out for the first time in years. The scene left millions of fans disappointed and invited a major backlash. However, that was the end of Cena's illustrious 23 year career in WWE that will be etched in WWE history forever.
