After a Turbulent Dating History, Is John Cena Finally Settled with Shay Shariatzadeh?

John Cena has finally settled into a relationship with his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, after years of the most well-publicized liaisons. The couple has been married since 2020 and has been, and remains, a solid, enabling pair in their public gatherings as well as in interviews.

Their own relationship has been more or less discreet than the previous ones Cena has featured in, which the WWE powerhouse has deliberately chosen to keep secret to respect Shariatzadeh's privacy. The relationship between Cena and Shariatzadeh began in February 2019, when both reportedly met at a restaurant in Vancouver during filming of the movie Playing with Fire. The relationship took off with them faster, and next time they appeared on screen during the premiere of this film in New York that year.

In February 2020, the couple got engaged when Cena proposed on Valentine's Day during a night alone at home. They finally married on October 12, 2020, in a simple, confidential ceremony at the office of a lawyer in Tampa, Florida.


They revisited their marriage two years later, in July 2022, with a larger wedding celebration in Vancouver, the city where they had started as a couple. Shariatzadeh has since continued to accompany Cena to several of his primary events, including his WWE retirement tour and signature conventions such as WrestleMania 41.

A calmer chapter after high-profile relationships

The situation with Cena and his current marriage is quite the opposite of his previous relationships with high-profile women. He was married to his high school love, Elizabeth Huberdeau, from 2009 to 2012, when they divorced.

He has then developed a relationship with one of the most publicly known WWE stars, Nikki Bella. The two dated from 2012 to 2018 and even got engaged at WrestleMania 33, but eventually broke off their wedding weeks before the actual one.

Conversely, Cena has referred to Shariatzadeh as his life partner, where her support and approval are important to him at the moment, pointing to an aspect of the superstar that has settled much more in his personal life.
