Kamalpreet Kaur finished sixth in the women's discus throw final with a best throw of 63.70m. After an emotionally charged Sunday, where PV Sindhu won a historic second individual medal (bronze) and the men's hockey team entered the semifinals after a gap of 49 years, Day 11 went a step further as this time the Indian women's hockey team made a historic maiden entry into the Olympic semifinals by stunning world No. 2 Australia 1-0 in the quarterfinal. Hockey history beckons India women
The Indian women's team has never been in the semifinals of the hockey competition at the Olympics. Their best finish came in 1980, when they ended fourth in the round-robin competition between six teams. This is the team's third appearance at the Olympics - 1980, 2016 and 2020/21.
