CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) trainee Ajay Yadav made a bright start to his campaign when he defeated Jay Soni of Gujarat, 7-5, 6-4, in the first round of the men's singles category of the Rs 10 lakh Videocon All India Open Tennis Championship held in Mumbai, on Tuesday.
Former CLTA trainee and Davis Cupper Sunil Supaeya of Haryana shocked third seed Mithun Murali of Tamil Nadu in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, to enter the men's singles second round.

Haryana's Ankita Bhatia bowed out of the tournament after a valiant fight with fifth seed Zainab Sajjad of Andhra Pradesh, 6-7 (4), 4-6 in the women's category.
