MUMBAI: Mumbai's Aryan Goveas upset under-16 top seed Allan Johnson Koundan of Kerala and then followed up with an authoritative win over Gujarat's Atul Patel to storm into the semifinals of the Boys under-16 and under-14 age categories at the All India Tennis Association's (AITA) Championship Series Tennis Tournament in Amritsar on Wednesday.
Aryan, a Standard 7th Student of Vibgyor High, Goregaon, used his powerful serve and superior strokes to get the better of his bigger and stronger rival, Koundan, winning the first set via the tie-breaker and then overpowering him in the second set to win 7-6 (8-6 ), 6-3.

Two hours later, Aryan took the court against Patel in the under-14 quarters and made short work of his rival with a 6-2 , 6-1 victory.
