The New England Patriots stepped into Super Bowl week knowing the spotlight would only grow. Super Bowl LX Opening Night on February 2, 2026, marked their first public moment before facing the Seattle Seahawks in the
NFL’s biggest game.
The night did not decide a champion. But it showed how a young Patriots team is handling the pressure, attention, and expectations that come with a Super Bowl appearance.
New England Patriots step into the Super Bowl spotlight
The Patriots were the first team introduced at Super Bowl LX Opening Night in San Jose. Announced as the AFC champions, they walked onto the stage to “Thunderstruck,” the same entrance song used before home games at Gillette Stadium.
After the stage appearance, players moved to the media floor. HC Mike Vrabel joined QB Drake Maye, RB Rhamondre Stevenson, TreVeyon Henderson, WR
Stefon Diggs, LBs Harold Landry III and Robert Spillane, and CBs Christian Gonzalez and Marcus Jones.
Drake Maye quickly became the center of attention. Cameras formed a wall around his podium as reporters tried to reach him. Stefon Diggs also faced constant questions throughout the hour and was even asked about his girlfriend, Cardi B.
Vrabel opened his media session by calling on MassLive reporter Karen Guregian, who stood in the front row. As has happened throughout the season, she received the first question. From there, the conversation moved quickly across the room.
Players without podiums spoke in small groups around the floor. Assistant coaches and front office staff also participated, including executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf.
Questions ranged from football preparation to lighter topics. DT Milton Williams paused when asked about his favorite Disney princess and admitted he did not have an answer.
As the session ended, the Patriots left the room. A few players returned to the stage alongside the Seattle Seahawks for a photo in front of the Lombardi Trophy. Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel represented New England. Sam Darnold and head coach Mike Macdonald stood for Seattle.
NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson asked a few final questions before Seattle officially took the stage.
The Patriots walked away from Opening Night and turned their focus to the rest of Super Bowl week. The focus now turns to preparation as New England prepares to face the Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.
