Amon-Ra St. Brown’s father, John Brown, recently appeared on Ryan Clark’s The Pivot Podcast. Brown was asked for his advice to his three sons regarding relationships. The three-time Mr. World said, “You can fall in love with a short woman or a tall woman. It’s the same love as the love. You got a choice to make. Be mindful.Amon-Ra has a beautiful girlfriend [Brooklyn Adams], I’m talking about inside, not out. She’s beautiful outside too, but just been together since 10th grade, which is wonderful, but at that time, when I met her, she was just 16 years old. I told her, ‘Amon-Ra don’t have a girlfriend. Girls are dream killers.’”

Brown then asked Clark if he agreed with that thought. The former Washington Redskins safety replied, “No, I don’t agree with that. I do not agree with that. Unlike you, I have two daughters.” Brown quickly changed his response and said that if he had girls, then boys were dream killers for them. And then the renowned former professional bodybuilder asked Clark whether he agreed with that vice-versa scenario. Without a second thought, the Super Bowl champion said, “Yes.”Brown moved on and said, “So, we’re all on the same page then. So, I told him [Amon-Ra] that, not to say anything bad towards her [Brooklyn], just to try to give him a good foundation to understand that this mission we’re on, you can’t screw around, you know [screams I’m in love].
You know, I can’t play the game. I can’t play today. I’m in love. She broke my heart. You can’t have that. You can’t get the heart broken.” Clark prompted, “It’ll be another love.Listening to this conversation sparked debate online. One X user bluntly called it “flagrant misogyny.” Another post read, “Why is this ever okay to say?” A user said, “He’s not wrong entirely,” another fan agreed, “Pops was right.” A user shared, “He’s absolutely right. Focus on the mission, everything else comes after.” A commenter chimed in, “Loyalty like that wins championships.” This is true for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who is on fire whenever his fiancée, Taylor Swift, is on the NFL stands cheering for him.

Josh Allen and Zay Flowers performed better after breakups with their respective girlfriends

The last point mentioned by the two-time Mr. Universe may not always be true. Sometimes, a player performs better after a breakup. Take Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen, for example. He and his longtime girlfriend, Brittany Williams, broke up in early 2023 after over five years of togetherness.Despite this hurtful breakup, Allen recorded breathtaking stats in 2023, 2024, and 2025! He was named 2024 NFL MVP, and in 2024 and 2025, he earned Pro Bowl selections. Even though he had another girlfriend [now his wife, Hailee Steinfeld] to take care of him during that time, it does not erase the fact that a long-term relationship was broken off, and he performed much, much better after that.Another example is Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers. He split with his longtime girlfriend, Ruby Antonioli, in early 2024, and he recorded career highs of 86 receptions for 1,211 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns, plus one rushing touchdown for 62 yards, across 17 games in 2025. This performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection [second]. Flowers introduced his new girlfriend, Kennedi Lacey, in Sept. 2025 through Instagram.
