Aaron Rodgers shares how his wife Brittani’s support influenced his decision to join the Steelers
Aaron Rodgers revealed that family support, especially from his wife, influenced his decision to join the Pittsburgh Steelers. The veteran quarterback said money was not a priority and praised head coach Mike Tomlin for building a genuine personal connection. With stability at home and trust in leadership, Rodgers feels confident entering his 20th NFL season.
Aaron Rodgers stepped into the next phase of his NFL career with a different kind of confidence, shaped as much by life off the field as decisions made inside a front office. His one year deal with Pittsburgh came after months of reflection following his exit from New York. What stood out was not money or market size, but a sense of fit. That clarity, he has suggested, was influenced by the people closest to him, including his wife and her family.

Rodgers admitted there was some humor behind the scenes as he weighed his options. “I was taking orders from my (new) sister-in-law, Mia,” Aaron, 41, told The Athletic in an interview published August 1. “She’s 20 and she’s the brains of the family; you just have to ask her.” While he later downplayed how literal that advice was, it revealed how open he has become to family voices.
Money, once a major factor, no longer drove his choices. “Every team that I talked to, I said, ‘Listen, if I play, I’m not going to take a ton of money,’” Aaron continued. “I’ve made a ton of money. I don’t need the money.’” Instead, he focused on environment, leadership, and trust. That trust quickly formed with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
“It felt like I was talking to a friend, not a coach,” Rodgers added. “Because it wasn’t talking X’s and O’s; it was, ‘How’s this person? How is that person doing?’ And that really meant a lot to me, and it was at the forefront of my mind when I made this decision to play.”Behind it all stands his wife Brittani, whom Rodgers has openly described as grounding. “When you meet the right one, and you’re with the right one, your world changes in a second,” he told Sports Illustrated. With that support, Rodgers believes his foundation is stronger than ever. “I’ve got the most incredible wife,” he said. “When you have that stability and that rock behind you at the house, you feel like you could do anything.”Also Read: “So grateful to have her ”: Aaron Rodgers opens up about the emotional shift that came with meeting his wife
