KWA ZULU NATAL: It was a chilly night in the Bush, but the banter between some of the world's legendary cricketing figures from India and South Africa and their partners made the occasion warm as the World Cricket Legends In The Wild Awards Night was staged with grandeur in the middle of the Phinda Game Reserve.
Honours were shared between the two teams with both captains
Kapil Dev and
Mike Procter getting awards and all-rounders Roger Binny and
Lance Klusener winning trophies for different feats.
Procter picked up the award for being the winning team's captain. He received a bat and a memento from Bollywood actor
Sharmila Tagore, wife of former Indian skipper Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi who passed away in September. Klusener picked up the man of the match award for his innings of 37.
Kapil Dev, who hit the most sixes in the match (5), pocketed the fiery sixes award and former Indian all-rounder Binny and wife Cynthia won the I Love South Africa award for being the most enthusiastic couple in exploring the Phinda Mountain Reserve and for being on every game drive.
Klusener play-acted his speech in front of Paul Adams and umpire Rudy Koertzen but didn't speak a word on stage. However, the explosive all-rounder made up for it with a little jig in his chair when Procter picked up the trophy.
