LeBron James gives brutal, confident answer about beating Father Time as he nears 41
James doesn't seem to be aging like the typical person, as has been repeatedly noted throughout the years. No 40-almost-41-year-old should be able to perform what he's doing. James is also pleased with himself for it. He gave a brutal response when asked about Father Time following Sunday's Lakers game.
In the meanwhile, James was questioned by reporters following the Lakers' 125-101 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday about what it's like to keep playing at a high level.
The four-time NBA champion was pleased to stay ahead of Father Time's final triumph.
During an interview, a reporter asked him:
“Tonight's your last game as a forty-year-old. You'll be 41 on that. How much of this for you at this stage in your career is about just pushing the limits of yourself physically and seeing what's possible?”
To this, James said:
“Yeah, I've been, I remember what, the little Brian 20 or 21 when I did the Father of Time commercial thing. I'm in a battle with [Father Time] and I would like to say I'm kicking his a-- on the back nine.”
James' excessive golfing and enjoyment during the off-season alarmed several fans. His sciatica-related absence from the first 14 games of the season didn't help either. In his early games, he also appeared to slow down, but he has since performed like an All-Star.
James has averaged 20.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game this season. Due to an injury that kept him out of action for a significant portion of the season, he has been consistently on the court and making contributions since his return.
James' future with the Lakers is uncertain because this is his final season under contract. It might be somewhere else if he wants to continue playing. But he'll go after another championship first. Alongside Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic, he's doing well enough to win important games.
LeBron views age as merely a number, after all. And he hasn't yet allowed it to stop him.
