One young star has surprised many with her claim that her journey to the top has been tougher than people imagine. The story came out in a sit-down interview this week, and it quickly caught attention for its comparison to one of basketball’s biggest names.

Sophie Rain reveals her numbers during David Dobrik interview

On 27 August, Sophie Rain, a 20-year-old creator, appeared on a podcast-style interview with YouTuber David Dobrik, filmed in Los Angeles, California. During the conversation, she revealed that she earned $82 million in just 18 months, including $43 million in 2024 alone.

“I almost made more than LeBron last year,” Rain said while comparing her income with NBA star LeBron James, who made $56 million in 2024, according to Forbes. Dobrik was visibly shocked and even verified her account on the spot, confirming the total earnings.

Despite the large figure, Rain said her success did not come without stress. “I’m just so nervous. I’m paranoid. Cause all of this could disappear tomorrow,” she admitted, before Dobrik replied, “Okay. $82 million doesn’t disappear tomorrow.”

Harder than a 9-to-5: Sophie Rain on her journey and challenges

Earlier in February 2025, Sophie Rain had already gained attention when she posted on X that she had crossed the $50 million mark. “Halfway to $100m, thank you all so much,” she wrote at that time.

But in her interview and in other chats, including with The Blast, Rain explained that the work behind the numbers is far more demanding than people think. “Girls see the headlines and think they’re going to wake up rich,” she said. “But unless you already have a huge audience, or you’re ready to work around the clock building one, this isn’t quick money. Most girls I know are barely pulling in $500 a month.”

Before her rise online, Rain worked simple jobs, including waiting tables and even farming. “It was nowhere near as intense as what I do now,” she shared. “But I’ve done the 9-to-5s. I know what it’s like to clock in.”

She also clarified that her content is “reserved” and said that her morals and faith keep her grounded. “I keep my content very reserved, and you can still make money from doing all of these things,” Rain told Fox News Digital. “I have a very close relationship with my church, and I love God.”
