“All of it can feel very isolating”: Dwyane Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union breaks silence on the pain of perimenopause

Dwyane Wade, the NBA legend, has been a pretty strong support to his wife, popular actress Gabrielle Union, as she faced a number of challenging things in her life.After battling fertility issues for a couple of years, Gabrielle Union has now opened up about how she had a challenging time with perimenopause.A few months ago, in a heartfelt interview with PEOPLE, Gabrielle Union opened up about her health issues as she said, “All of it can feel very isolating and you can feel like less of a woman, especially as a Black woman where our hair is our crown. There's literally the CROWN Act and I'm like, uh, my crown looks more like a barrette at this moment…”The Being Mary Jane actress added, “It was the hot flashes, the night sweats that could happen at any time of day, brain fog, mood changes, ongoing sadness, anxiety that felt more like terror, hair loss, and then random weight gain…”Gabrielle Union continued, “That’s when it really hit home for me” as she shared how it became an emotional time in her life.The popular actress Gabrielle Union has been vocal about how she started perimenopause in her 30s, much earlier than her friends and peers.She has been similarly public about her fertility issues and how she did not prefer to opt for surrogacy since she wanted to be “publicly pregnant” in the industry.The NBA legend Dwyane Wade has been extremely supportive of Gabrielle Union and was also the one who stopped her from trying to get pregnant after experiencing multiple miscarriages.For now, both Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union seem to be enjoying one of the happiest phases of their lives as they remain private about their lives with their daughter, Kaavia Wade.Gabrielle Union also experienced a tough time as she lost her father recently but the NBA legend has been with her through all of it as he continues to be by her side.
