— Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) 1682681460000Last time also I met with them (wrestlers). Formed a committee for the investigation. More woman members were included in the committee for the ease of the women wrestlers so that they could share their problems with them without any hesitation. We also asked IOA to form an ad-hoc committee to look into the day-to-day affairs of WFI
Welcoming the filing of an FIR against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the group of protesting wrestlers led by Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, on Friday, said that they will continue with their sit-in at Jantar Mantar till the time the Wrestling Federation of India's (WFI) sidelined president is not arrested and put behind bars by the Delhi Police.

— Rani Rampal (@imranirampal) 1682666473000We decided to buy mattresses. I bought 80 mattresses from my village Kharkhoda by paying Rs 50,000. We were being charged 12000 a day for all the mattresses. That's a huge sum. Initially, we had taken speakers and microphones on rent, but the one-day cost was Rs 12,000. It was too much. Now we have bought our own sound system from Chandni Chowk market for Rs 60,000. The shopkeeper was nice. He knew that athletes are on the road so he gave us the system on a not-for-profit basis.

— ANI (@ANI) 1682605440000We did not expect such a harsh response from the IOA president as we expected support from her
The IOA's investigation into the sexual harassment issue is still going on. The seven-member committee probing the matter has got a list of witnesses. These witnesses will be invited to face the committee. Based on that, the report will be submitted to us in due course.
We believe that sports should not be affected, sportspersons should not be affected and day-to-day functioning of a federation should continue. What wrestlers have done is not good for the country. It's not good for the image of the country. Our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been doing so much for sports and then you have these wrestlers sitting on the streets and protesting. This sets a bad precedent.
This amounts to gross indiscipline and tarnishing the image of the country. It sets a bad precedent. Instead of hitting the streets, the wrestlers should have come to the IOA's Athletes Commission. The commission is headed by M C Mary Kom as chairperson and Achanta Sharath Kamal as vice chairperson.
