New satellite images reveal an extensive network of missile launch pads, fortified bunkers, command centers and communications facilities spread across thousands of square kilometers near China's nuclear missile silo fields. According to security analysts, the infrastructure appears designed to strengthen China's ability to survive a potential first strike and maintain a credible nuclear retaliatory capability. The images show more than 80 pads that could support mobile missile launchers, air-defense systems and electronic warfare operations, along with two large octagon-shaped military complexes connected to key missile sites.
