INDORE: Forget about open parking, highly secured townships under 24x7 surveillance are as unsafe. Fearless thieves on the prowl manage to trespass posh localities. A similar case was reported at Lasudia police station on Thursday. Ranji and IPL cricket player Anand Rajan's newly purchased XUV 500, worth 16 lakhs, was lifted from the posh Shalimar Township in Vijay Nagar area.

Rajan, who bought his luxury car on Wednesday evening, had parked it at Premium Towers' designated lot to offer prayers at a temple. Within minutes the XUV went missing. Upon not finding the vehicle, Rajan rushed to the township management and security guards, but to no avail. Harried family then approached the police. Speaking to TOI over phone, Rajan said, "The vehicle is backed by an anti-theft warning system and the latest generation immobilizer to prevent theft. The vehicle can only be opened with the original key. The second key was with the dealer from where I purchased the vehicle. I suspect hands of someone at the dealer's showroom behind the incident."
Police have registered a case under IPC section 389 and are probing into the matter. On Thursday, police rounded-up an employee at dealer's showroom near Dewas Naka on the basis of suspicion. Police also visited the spot where the vehicle was parked and captured CCTV footage from the management of township to track the crime incident.
Incharge, Lasudia police station, Pradeep Singh Ranawat, said, "We have found an unidentified man unlocking the vehicle and moving out the township. However, his face is not clear. We are also tracing the footage of CCTV cameras installed on city limits to check whether the vehicle was taken outside the city."
