PT Usha, Anju in sports calendar

BANGALORE: Sportz Divas, a company formed with the aim of supporting sportswomen, on Friday unveiled a calendar featuring a host of past and present stars including P T Usha and Anju Bobby George.
Besides Usha and Anju, other who feature in the table-top calendar are weightlifter Karnam Malleswari, ace archer Dola Banerjee, boxer Mary Kom, national squash champion Dipika Pallikal and cueist Chitra Magimaraj.
"I am elated by the response from the fraternity which has come forward to support the cause," said Sportz Divas MD, Ms Anuradha Namashivaya, a former gymnast who quit the sport after a crippling injury during the 1997 National Games.
She said Sportz Divas will not just be a platform to highlight achievements but will also guide and train budding sportswomen into tomorrow's world champions. The calendar was unveiled at the Jyoti Nivas Girls College.
The proceeds from the sale of the calendar will be used for the activities of the organisation towards sports development.
