RANCHI: Brother-sister duo of Bimal and Asunta Lakra will lead the Jharkhand men's and women's hockey teams respectively during the National Games, starting on February 12.
Another Lakra bother Birendra is also a part of the Jharkhand men's team.
In fact, all the siblings have represented India in Asian and Commonwealth Games.
Indian player Prabodh Tirkey of Orissa, who shifted his base, now plays for Jharkhand after getting married to a Ranchi girl.
Helan Mary (Karnataka), Chanchal Devi (Manipur) and Saba Anjum (Chhatisgarh) have also chosen to represent Jharkhand's women's team.
"We have many international players in our ranks and both the teams are aiming for gold medals. We are expecting to face stiff challenge from Haryana," Hockey Jharkhand's General Secretary and former India captain Savitri Purti said.
The teams: Men's: Bimal Lakra (Capt), Birendra Lakra, Sashi Topno, Dinesh Ekka, Bikash Toppo, Roshan Minz, Birendra Lakra (Junior), William Khalko, B Horo, Masian Minz, Prabodh Tirkey, I. Kullu, Manjit Kullu, Suman tirkey, Silmen Tete, John Minz, Dominque Lakra and Chandrasekhar Khalko.
Women's: Asuntha Lakra (Capt) Helen Mary, Subhadra Pradhan, Puspa Pradhan, Manjula Tete, Purnita Minz, P S Kiro, Niki Pradhan, Etwari Mundu, Kanti Baa, Saba Anjum, Chanchal Devi, Sarita Lakra, D Vinitaxess, Silvanti Minzur, Patrisia Bhengra, Anita Soren Beig, Adline Karketa.
