Who is Jordan Hicks? Breaking down the Red Sox’s newest pitching addition

In early February 2026, Jordon Hicks, the famous American professional pitcher, was signed by the Chicago White Sox. Earlier, he was with the Boston Red Sox. Hicks started his professional career in MLB through traits like his speed, adaptability, etc. Hicks started his MLB career in early 2018. Although facing many struggles and battling so much throughout the journey, Hicks worked hard and lived the 8 years of his MLB journey with power.

The move out of Rafael Devers from the team was unexpected, so now Jordan has to take up more responsibilities as a pitcher to balance out the fragile foundation of the Red Sox.


But as it's said, sometimes things just don't go according to plan. The same happened to Jordan; he prepared well, but he couldn't keep pace with the team. And apparently, when the junior players were taking the grip, it forced the Red Sox to rethink their decision about taking up Hicks. So eventually, to give a fresh start to his career, the Red Sox traded him to the Chicago White Sox.

The Red Sox got good pitchers at the cost of Jordan, so it's a win-win situation for them. That is to say, the new pitchers can be trained well and, according to the Red Sox, so that they can take up responsibility for the team.

On the other hand, this trade is in a better position for Chicago, as they are in a deconstructing phase; that is to say, they are building their team from scratch. So, to get a well-experienced player like Jordan, it will somehow help them. Also, Hicks's fast pitching is so value-driven; fewer players can match his pace. And adding to this, Chicago thinks that the new role and new environment could surely build Hicks what he was before.
