The Colorado Rockies have had a bad start to the 2025 season, but the team’s general manager, Bill Schmidt, isn’t ready to make big changes yet. Before the team played against the San Diego Padres, he said that while staying positive, he doesn’t plan to fire manager Bud Black right now, even though the team is struggling.

Bill Schmidt says he feels for the fans

Bill Schmidt, speaking to the Denver Post, explained that he understands that it is frustrating for the fans to see how the Colorado Rockies has performed. He said:"I feel for the fans, I feel for the people around here, I know we are better than we have played, but we are not good right now. We have to battle through it and get to the other side.”Further, he said:
"There are still a lot of games left. I think we can turn it around, but it's going to take a whole group to do it. The guys are working to get better."He added that the team has been working really hard. He said:"I think our guys are still playing hard, and that's what I look at, guys are working hard every day, they come with energy, for the most part. I don't think we are (at that point of firing Black). Guys still believe in what we are doing and where we are headed. We are all frustrated."

Bud Black reacts while being in a difficult spot

While the Colorado Rockies are having a terrible season and don’t want to call it a rebuild, things are not going great. On Saturday, the Rockies lost 21-0 to the San Diego Padres. This is their eighth loss in a row. Their 6-33 record is the worst since 1988. Regarding the situation, their manager Bud Black said:“I hate it. I hate that big-time, It’s been a function of where we’ve been the last four days with the doubleheader and a little bit from our starters. We’ve had a lot of relievers who pitched a lot lately and you’ve got to save some arms.”Also Read: Colorado Rockies’ nightmare season continues with record-setting losses since 1950
