Constant penalties to players and teams during a game, often results in less viewership, especially in a sport like gymnastics. Recently, LSU Tigers star Olivia Dunne called out the judges for low viewership and attendance of fans at the ongoing NCAA gymnastics event. Dunne's criticism attracted fans' attention and the LSU Tigers star went on to highlight the major factors responsible for the viewership downfall.

Olivia Dunne called out judges for low attendance at NCAA gymnastics games

When it comes to gymnastics, Olivia Dunne is more than serious about the sport. So much that even the low viewership affects her. On Sunday, Dunne took to her X account to lash out at the judges, blaming them for the decreased viewership of the NCAA gymnastics events.Olivia Dunne started off by expressing how she is concerned about the "empty seats" that she saw while attending one of the NCAA gymnastics events. Dunne went ahead blaming the judges for the "empty seats" and how "too many deductions" have adversely affected the viewership. Talking about the same, Dunne wrote:"I am sitting here watching NCAA gymnastics and the empty seats are concerning. I care deeply about the growth in women’s sports especially in the NCAA. If you want fans to enjoy the sport and increase viewership, you have to look at what makes the crowds go crazy!"
"People understand what a perfect 10 is and want people who do things that look great to be rewarded. Too many deductions taken at a judge’s discretion feels the same as watching a basketball game that’s constantly interrupted with penalties or a football game with flags on every play," Dunne further added. Moving forward in her statement, Olivia Dunne highlighted that the excessive penalties and deductions end up becoming a factor responsible for losing the "entertainment" part of a game. Talking about how fans reach out to her with the same concern, Dunne concluded her statement by saying:"At some point it feels negative and loses the entertainment factor that draws the crowd in. The number of questions I am currently getting from fans about the scoring is significant enough for me to share this concern. I love the art and intricacy of gymnastics but let’s get more eyes on the sport!"
Before lashing out at the judges, Olivia Dunne made headlines after she revealed how Paul Skenes' has been changing her social media game. During an interview with Glamour in November, Dunne talked about the same as she said:“My social media has changed a bit because my audience that follows me also loves Paul. I have a lot of people come up to me in person and people tell me how much they love Paul, and I’m like, ‘Me too!’ I feel like people just like to cheer him on with me, and my social media has definitely grown. The MLB is a really big community and it’s been fun.”Before lashing out at the judges, Olivia Dunne shared a sneak peek into her romantic walk with her boyfriend Paul Skenes in New York City. The couple visited NYC to attend the BBWAA Awards, a BTS of which Dunne posted on her Instagram stories.
