Earlier this year, Corbin Burnes signed a whopping $210 Million contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Burnes left the Baltimore Orioles to join the Diamondbacks. Interestingly, more than the money he was getting, it was his "young children" that influenced his decision to move out from Baltimore to Arizona.
MLB insider Jody Jackson shared a major revelation about Corbin Burnes deal
During an open panel discussion with the MLB Network on Tuesday, MLB insider Jody Jackson shared some interesting details about Corbin Burnes' $210 Million signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks. According to Jackson, it was Burnes' "young children" that influenced his decision to join the Diamondbacks. Talking about the same in detail, Jackson said:
"The one thing we had been hearing, though, were rumblings that Corbin Burnes wanted to play in Arizona, wanted to be an Arizona Diamondback because of his young children. And you know, he found it very tough after, as you know, being over there with the Orioles and having to get back for the birth of his twins in the middle of the summer and just all of the things that, of course, you know, line up with being a dad and being able to be home."Moving forward in her statement, Jody Jackson talked about the reason why there are only a handful of players who end up signing with the Diamondbacks, despite many of them showing huge interest in moving to Arizona. Explaining how Diamondbacks have a "pretty stacked pitching staff," Jackson said:
"You know, guys that want to play in Arizona where they can offer spring training and year-long baseball. But the difference is, since going to the World Series in '23, we're seeing a caliber of a player or a pitcher like Corbin Burnes go ahead and do that. And so six years, recorded $210 million, coming over to an already pretty stacked pitching staff."According to Spotrac, Corbin Burnes has joined the Arizona Diamondbacks on a 6-year deal worth $210 Million. According to the contract, Burnes is set to become a free agent in 2031. Do you think Burnes will be able to outshine his performance in his first season with the Diamondbacks?
