“Why he’d post this”: Riley Gaines questions Donald Trump after controversial Jesus image post as long-time supporter speaks out

She wrote, “Why? Seriously, I cannot understand why he’d post this. Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this?”

Then she added two clear points. “Either way, two things are true. 1) a little humility would serve him well. 2) God shall not be mocked.”

This reaction surprised many people because Gaines has been one of Trump’s strongest public supporters. She has often backed his views, especially on women’s sports. That is why her words felt like a big shift.

At that event, Trump praised her and said, “We’re honored to be joined today by many of the advocates of women’s sports, including the brave swimmer at the forefront of this battle in Riley Gaines.”

He also said, “I want to thank Riley, she really has been at the forefront. People would say that she was the leader. Great job, Riley.”

Gaines also supported Trump during his 2024 campaign and even spoke at rallies.

At the same time, she had her own public moments, including a social media clash with Simone Biles last year. Biles later apologized, and Gaines accepted it.

Despite all this history, Gaines chose to speak out now. This comes as Trump is also dealing with criticism from Pope Leo, who recently spoke about global conflict. According to Reuters, the Pope said, “I don’t want to get into a debate with him.”
