UFC star Rose Namajunas is going through a painful time after her latest fight, as she revealed she suffered a serious eye injury that will affect her daily life for months. The former two-time UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion lost her fight to Natalia Silva by unanimous decision at UFC 324 on Saturday night. While the loss hurt, the damage to her eye has become the biggest concern. Soon after the fight, Namajunas shared that she must undergo surgery and will have a silicone tube placed in her eye for three months. Because of this injury, she will not be able to sneeze or blow her nose during recovery. The injury came from multiple eye pokes during the fight, which caused damage deep inside her eyelid and tear duct. Namajunas shared the update on The Ariel Helwani Show, where she explained the situation in her own words and confirmed that surgery was needed right away. Photos later showed her sitting on a hospital bed as she prepared for the procedure. For the 33-year-old fighter, the road to recovery has now become the focus.

Rose Namajunas explains eye injury after Natalia Silva fight at UFC 324

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Rose Namajunas explained how serious the injury was and why surgery could not be avoided. She said, “I am headed into surgery. Canalicular tube surgery. I got poked in the eye a few times in the fight, but my tube is torn, so it is going to be repaired right now.
I am going to have a silicone tube in my eye for three months, so please pray for me. I am just glad we can get it fixed.”Ariel Helwani later added more details after receiving photos from Namajunas’ team. He explained, “One of the eye pokes cut the inside of her eyelid all the way into the tear duct. She will have to keep a tube in her eye for three months, and she will not be able to sneeze or blow her nose.”This update has raised fresh concerns about eye safety in UFC fights. It also comes shortly after British UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall suffered eye trouble of his own. In October at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi, Aspinall’s fight ended in a no contest after he was struck in the eyes. He later shared medical reports on Instagram, showing issues like double vision and trouble moving his eye.On his YouTube channel, Tom Aspinall said, “We have to see how it goes over the next few weeks. I am not in the gym training right now. I am just following the doctor’s orders.” He added that he wants a rematch only when he is fully healthy. For Rose Namajunas, the focus is now healing. The surgery gives her a path forward, but the recovery will take time, patience, and care.
