During her podcast interview, Anna Kalinskaya was asked if male tennis stars often try to ask her on dates. She admitted that some had done so in the past, but now she was not interested. Kalinskaya then shared a surprising story:

“Someone wrote like 10 times and then gave up. I’ll say who it is now — Holger Rune. He writes to everyone. He thinks too much of himself. Maybe he’s just desperate, but he’s not the only one.”


The interview was recorded in New York where she was preparing for matches, and her comment quickly spread across tennis media. Kalinskaya is no stranger to being linked with top players.

She dated Nick Kyrgios briefly in 2020, calling him a “bad person” after their breakup, and later confirmed her relationship with Jannik Sinner in Paris at the French Open 2024. Their romance ended after just a few months, with Sinner confirming he was single in Rome.

This is not the first time Rune has been accused of sending too many messages. Just last month, Russian player Veronika Kudermetova said Rune had also texted her despite knowing she was married.

Holger Rune did not stay silent after Anna Kalinskaya’s story. The 22-year-old Dane responded on X (formerly Twitter) with a short message:

“Ha ha ha. We might have cultural differences that make Anna read a comment on a story as an invitation to a date. If I want to go for a date, I ask for a date. Don’t worry.”

Holger Rune’s post suggested that his messages may have been casual comments rather than serious date requests. But the timing of Kalinskaya’s words, during the busy US Open season in New York, made sure fans paid attention.

Meanwhile, Anna Kalinskaya has reportedly moved on in her personal life. She is believed to be dating Tomas Ferrari, an old boyfriend from 2021, who was seen at her matches this year in Madrid, Indian Wells, and Miami. She also said his dog Bella has been traveling with her and giving her “a lot of positivity.”
