Formula E Season 12 has begun, and the drivers are back from their Christmas and New Year breaks. There are quite a few GEN3 Evo racers who are not just a sensation on the track but are also heroes to their kids. From title winner Oliver Rowland to veterans Lucas Di Grassi and Sebastien Buemi, several drivers have celebrated their victories with their children on the podium. Formula E recently revisited some of these memorable moments ahead of Round 3 in Miami.
Formula E drivers who included their kids in podium celebrations
After wrapping up Round 1 and Round 2 in Sao Paulo and Mexico City, the drivers will now head to Miami for Round 3. Before the on-track action resumes, Formula E’s official Instagram page shared several memorable family moments from the podium, accompanied by the caption: “Family, fast cars and podium smiles #FormulaE #Motorsport #Racing,” along with a heart emoji and an emotional face emoji.
The post includes pictures of Oliver Rowland celebrating his Tokyo E-Prix win with his four-year-old daughter, Harper, joining him during the podium celebrations. Harper has accompanied the Nissan driver on the podium on quite a few occasions in the past.
There is also a picture of Lucas Di Grassi from last year’s Miami E-Prix, where the Lola Yamaha ABT driver celebrated his second-place finish on the podium with his kids joining him as he marked the moment with champagne.
Pascal Wehrlein also shared a precious moment, with his young daughter accompanying him onto the podium wearing earmuffs. Envision Racing’s Sebastien Buemi was also seen celebrating his podium moment with his three sons on the podium. His wife is also visible in one of the pictures.
Highlighting the emotional element of the images, Nissan’s official handle commented, “Who’s chopping onions?” One fan went on to describe the Formula E drivers as “grid dads.”
What’s Next in Formula E?
Formula E Season 12 now heads to Round 3 in Miami, scheduled for January 31. A Rookie Free Practice session is also scheduled a day earlier, during which selected rookies from each team will take part in the practice session to get their first taste of the GEN3 Evo cars. Cupra Kiro driver Pepe Martí has also been allowed to participate alongside the rookies, as he continues to retain rookie status until he completes a full season of racing.
With the action only just beginning, Formula E fans can expect many more such heartwarming family moments in the races to come.
