Mitch Evans reflects after wet and wild Miami E-Prix win: “We should figure out what we need to do in the dry, it’s bizarre”
Mitch Evans is back on the podium after a dull start to the season with no points in the first two races. The Jaguar TCS Racing driver topped the all-time winners list with his 15th win in Formula E at the wet and wild Round 3 race at the new Miami International Autodrome last weekend. The New Zealander, who has always been loyal to one team ever since he joined Formula E a decade ago, feels the team really needs to figure out its pace in dry conditions.
“I knew from the first few laps that I had a really good car underneath me, and I just wanted to pick off some of the guys. Then I caught up to the front pack, and they had all kind of done an Attack Mode, and I hadn’t, so I knew I was in a really good position. Then I just had to execute it, not make mistakes, and then obviously get that move done on Nico [Muller]. So a really, really strong race,” he added.
“When you make those places up, it's always fun. I really felt like I had a good advantage over some people, so that always helps. I just had to try and be smart, play the long game, but the pace just made, in terms of strategy, life for us all easier. I wish I had that pace every race! Unfortunately, it's not possible most of the time, but full credit to the team. We should figure out what we need to do in the dry because I'm lacking something there, and it's really bizarre. All season has been tough,” he said.
Mitch Evans had a tough Season 11 after he won the first race in Sao Paulo but endured a dry run throughout the rest of the season until he won another race in Berlin as the season neared its end. He finished 13th in the championship and is yet to win a Formula E title in a decade-long career.

Mitch Evans shares Miami E-Prix strategy that put him on top of the all-time winners list in Formula E
Mitch Evans emerged victorious at the Miami E-Prix after keeping the Porsche duo of Nico Muller and Pascal Wehrlein in tow. Sharing his strategy that yielded him the winner’s trophy in Miami, Mitch Evans said in an interview with FormulaE.com, “Honestly, I wasn't expecting it after practice and qualifying just because we've been really struggling in the dry here. So when the rain came down, it was like, ‘What am I going to have in these conditions?’ and it's always a bit of an unknown when it rains.”“I knew from the first few laps that I had a really good car underneath me, and I just wanted to pick off some of the guys. Then I caught up to the front pack, and they had all kind of done an Attack Mode, and I hadn’t, so I knew I was in a really good position. Then I just had to execute it, not make mistakes, and then obviously get that move done on Nico [Muller]. So a really, really strong race,” he added.
Mitch Evans feels Jaguar TCS Racing need to figure out the car in dry conditions
After a dull start for Jaguar TCS Racing with pointless Sao Paulo and Mexico City races, Mitch Evans Evans feels they have been able to undergo a reset and are now all pepped up for the next race, the Jeddah double-header. He, however, feels the team really needs to figure out their pace in dry conditions.“When you make those places up, it's always fun. I really felt like I had a good advantage over some people, so that always helps. I just had to try and be smart, play the long game, but the pace just made, in terms of strategy, life for us all easier. I wish I had that pace every race!
