DS Penske driver Maximilian Gunther recently took part in his home race, the Berlin E-Prix. Cheering him on from the stands was his father, Andreas Gunther, who also serves as his son’s manager. Gunther has now shared some behind-the-scenes moments of his father sitting in his DS Penske Formula E car in the paddock.

Maximilian Gunther shared a series of pictures of his father getting a taste of Formula E life by sitting in the cockpit of the car. He candidly introduced his father on Instagram: “New reserve driver”.Reacting to the post, a fan wrote: “Hi papa und your handsome son.” Another commented, “Servus Andi!” One more added, “Das father!”
Gunther senior clearly seemed to enjoy the experience of sitting in the cockpit of a Formula E car, as he could be seen grinning widely while giving a thumbs up from inside the car.Gunther’s father has always supported the DS Penske driver throughout his motorsport journey. He is often in attendance to cheer on the racer during race weekends.Gunther’s former team, Maserati MSG Racing, once introduced his father to fans by sharing a picture of the father-son duo on X. “Say hello to Max’s father and manager, Andreas!” read the tweet alongside a picture of the two.Reposting it, Maximilian wrote: “I might not look like it but it’s always amazing having dad at races! Grateful for the support.”

Maximilian Gunther fails to make the most of home advantage at Berlin E-Prix

Maximilian Gunther had hoped for a strong result on home soil, but he failed to score points in either race at the Berlin E-Prix. Despite showing promising pace across all three practice sessions, he finished 11th in Round 7 and 15th in Round 8. He had earlier placed fourth in FP1, fifth in FP2 and second in FP3.
Summing up the Berlin double-header, Gunther posted on Instagram: “Racing on home soil. Had very good pace this weekend and raced well - unfortunately a late technical issue kept us from a solid points finish. Confident we’ll carry the momentum forward @ds_penske_fe @dsperformance. Thanks Berlin for all the support. See you next year.”Gunther continues to struggle this season and is still looking to regain his form. His performances have dipped since finishing sixth in the opening race of the season in Sao Paulo.
