After Porsche, Envision Racing has also announced its rookie for the upcoming Madrid Rookie Test on March 22. McLaren development driver Ella Lloyd will drive for the team in the upcoming Madrid Rookie Test. She has driven a Formula E car three times before, and this will be her second rookie test with Envision Racing. She finished fourth in the F1 Academy last year and was also impressive at the Women’s Test in Valencia.
Ella Lloyd set for Envision Racing drive at Madrid Rookie Test
Taking to Instagram, Ella Lloyd shared a few pictures of herself and wrote: “Announcement. Excited to announce that I will be taking part in the Formula E rookie test in Madrid, after a successful first outing in Valencia.
I’m excited to continue working with Envision.”
Envision Racing also shared a promotional poster to make the announcement on social media. The post read: “We are delighted to announce that Ella Lloyd will return to the cockpit at the Madrid Rookie Test on 22 March! Following her impressive performance in the Women's Test in Valencia last year, we're excited to build on that progress. We cannot wait to see what she achieves during the rookie test in Spain!”
Sharing her happiness about being selected for the Madrid Rookie Test, Ella Lloyd said, “I’m really looking forward to driving the Formula E car again with Envision Racing.
The test last year in Valencia was a fantastic experience and I learned a great deal from the team. I’m excited to build on that progress and continue developing in Madrid.”
Welcoming Lloyd to the team, Envision Racing Managing Director and CTO Sylvain Filippi said, “We are delighted to welcome Ella back to the team for the Madrid rookie test. She demonstrated impressive pace during her first outing in Valencia. This test will be a great opportunity for her to continue that progress and further integrate with the team.”
Who is Ella Lloyd?
Twenty-year-old British driver Ella Lloyd previously raced in the Ginetta GT Championship and earned the vice-champion title in 2023. She has also won the Female Driver Trophy in the Formula Winter Series. She also finished in the top three multiple times in British F4 before finishing fourth in F1 Academy last year.
The Madrid Rookie Test will follow the maiden Madrid E-Prix scheduled for March 20-21. Meanwhile, Porsche has announced two drivers, Ayhancan Guven and Elia Weiss, for the rookie test.
