Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that Manchester United needs a comprehensive rebuild to compete for top titles again. The 39-year-old forward, who won several titles during his first stint at the club from 2003 to 2009, shared his thoughts on the 'Rio Ferdinand Presents' podcast.
"They need to rebuild everything, in my opinion ... the club needs time to rebuild because it's still one of the best clubs in the world, but they need to change.

They understand that this is the only way," Reuters quoted British media as saying.
Ronaldo, who still holds his former club dear, commented positively on the efforts of United's administrators under Jim Ratcliffe, CEO of INEOS, in investing in infrastructure.
"I believe that the future will be bright. I believe, but they don't depend only on the talents. They have to rebuild from the bottom. If not, they cannot compete. It will be impossible," Ronaldo added.
He also addressed the pressure on United's manager Erik Ten Hag after the team's two losses in their first three games of the season. Ronaldo suggested that Ten Hag seek support from former United teammate Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is now an assistant coach.
"You cannot rebuild a club without knowledge," he said. "I believe that Ruud is going to help because he was inside the club. He knows the club, he knows the fans. If the coach listens to him, I think they can improve a little bit the club.
