Red Dead Redemption 2 spider web mystery discovered seven years after launch
Red Dead Redemption 2 has been around since 2018, and it still continues to surprise players with hidden secrets. In recent times, the community has managed to discover an entirely new Easter egg, and it is being dubbed the "Spider Dream Mystery."
The Easter egg is essentially a complex puzzle, and it features time-specific spider webs, alongside other things like cryptic carvings and mysterious directions. This has left the players quite confused, and they have been scouring the internet to find the answers. The section below takes a detailed look at the newly found Easter egg in Red Dead Redemption 2.
The Spider Web Easter egg started when community members noticed a spider web appearing on a Saint Denis telegraph pole at exactly 3 AM in-game. The same ended up vanishing at 4 AM. Following this, they also identified a carved spider symbol on a telegraph pole near Cornwall Kerosene & Tar in the Heartlands region.
After players overlaid the spider carving onto the game map, they discovered that the spider's eight legs aligned perfectly with eight different telegraph pole locations scattered across the region. Essentially, each of the eight poles marked by the spider's legs features a spider web with a feather that only appears during specific nighttime hours, typically between 2 and 4 AM in-game. These webs are called "spiderdream" in the game's files, giving the mystery its official name.
The webs spawn at precise times:
Following this clue north leads to a telegraph pole that. When shot, the same unveils a hidden carving beneath the wood: the letter "W" followed by five telegraph pole symbols. This indicates that players should move five poles west.
Counting five poles westward brings players to another shootable pole. Firing at it reveals "NW" (northwest) alongside a guitar symbol. Following the northwest direction leads to Fort Wallace, where two guitars can be found. One is in a high south tower, whereas the other can be found elsewhere in the location.
Fascinatingly, one guitar points directly back toward the original spider-carved telegraph pole near Cornwall Kerosene & Tar. However, this is where the mystery hits a roadblock. At the time of writing, nothing has triggered a conclusive ending to the puzzle.

Hidden Messages in the Spider Web Easter Egg
At the center of the spider pattern on the map, players were able to find a larger web wrapped around a tree near Dewberry Creek. This central web appears between 1-2 AM and lacks feathers. When viewed from the correct angle, it reveals the letter "N" alongside a drawing of a telegraph pole, clearly pointing north.Following this clue north leads to a telegraph pole that.
