We are not far from the start of the game, but before that, the players from both sides make their way out to the middle with the little mascots and line up for the respective national anthems. It will be Jamaica's first, followed by the national anthem of Sri Lanka, and conclude with the Rally 'Round the West Indies.'

Head coach of West Indies - Daren Sammy is up for a quick chat. He says that they have been in Antigua for over two weeks now. A few of their players have played IPL as well. Adds that the preparations have been good and this series is important for them to improve their rankings in ODIs. Speaking about what the ODI team has achieved since 2023, he says they have turned home conditions into a fortress, winning their last four home ODI series. He highlights that this is the first time the team has achieved such a feat since the period between 1980 and 1990. On the rankings, he concludes by saying that the team can only control how it plays and cannot influence the results of the teams above them in the standings.

PITCH REPORT - Carlos Brathwaite is along the pitchside with his valuable insights. He says that from one end it looks to bat on, and when he walks a few steps down the track from far away, it looks quite barren, but there is some brown grass covering it. However, when he draws his attention to the other end, the grass is much greener and for that reason, he thinks pacers will have good control of the ball.

The skipper of Sri Lanka - Kusal Mendis says that they have a new management and the guys are really good. He adds that they make us prepare well, and they have been training for the ODI games. He reckons that he is happy with his team as they have played good cricket in recent times. Mendis concludes that they have a balanced team and are ready for the challenge. They are going with two seamers, two spinners, and one seam-bowling all-rounder.

The captain of West Indies - Shai Hope says that usually here you get some extra movement in the morning session and they want to exploit it with the ball. Adds that they have been playing pretty well over the last couple of years, and it is all about playing together as a group. Mentions that consistency is the name of the game and if they can execute their plans effectively, the results will take care of themselves. Hope shares that they are going with four seamers and two spinners. They have their usual top six batting order and feel that this is a balanced combination considering the conditions and the challenge.
