... THE RUN CHASE ...
A chance to move forward - Right then, this game is set up nicely to be a close encounter. Ireland Under-19 will be ecstatic with that bowling effort but West Indies Under-19 also have a lethal bowling attack, one that can dismantle any lineup. With both teams currently in the bottom half of the table, a win for either of them could be a huge boost in their standing in this tournament. Should be an exciting chase, so stay tuned.
Marko Bates - He says that they pride themselves on being united. Whatever happens, they back each other, even if a few catches go down, it's fine. Adds that he knew Andrew was on strike but didn't think about it much, just got his hands up and it stuck in and it was a great feeling. Mentions that when Riley comes to bowl in the nets, it is hard to face him, especially when it swings. Says that the skipper is very calm and relaxed and leads from the front. Ends by saying that the surface looks quick enough and he is hopeful they will chase this down.
Searching for consistency - Plenty of promise in that West Indies Under-19 lineup but not much execution. Joshua Dorne was happy to bat first at the toss but he will feel that they have finished 30-odd runs short of where they should have. Also, being bowled out for a fourth consecutive time is something the Windies will need to ponder upon. There were certainly flashes of brilliance and Jewel Andrew did play a fine knock as well. However, some sluggish running, a few unnecessary shots and a lack of intent have cost them heavily. Aadian Racha was the other one who impressed at the death and his steady knock of 28 has taken his side to a defendable total.
A disciplined display - Fielding a combination of five frontline seamers and just one spinner, that too an all-rounder in the form of James West, Ireland needed wickets upfront, otherwise it was going to be a long day in the field. The first wicket came in the form of a stunning direct hit from the deep and they capitalized on it to get another wicket. The first half of the middle phase was were they lost the plot a bit but came back strongly in the second half. Barring the third wicket stand, the Irish bowlers didn't allow partnerships to flourish. Also, apart from Adam Leckey, everyone bowled economically and even picked up wickets. Reuben Wilson picked up 3 wickets, but Luke Murray was the best out of the bunch with his two big wickets in the same over.
Jab, Jab, KO - That is a solid display of bowling from Ireland Under-19 and after being asked to field first, the Irish have done well to restrict West Indies Under-19 to a total of under 230 runs. The pitch wasn't the easiest to play shots on but it does feel like the Windies let things slip in the key moments and Ireland capitalized brilliantly.
Reuben Wilson to Aadian Racha, OUT! TAKEN! Reuben Wilson wraps things up here. He bowls this on a hard length and just outside off, giving no pace again. Aadian Racha looks to pull it across the line but gets a top edge that lobs up towards short third, where Luke Murray takes a dolly. West Indies Under-19 have been bowled out for 226.
