Jayden Seales to Josh Inglis, Hard length, outside off, smacked, but straight to cover-point.
Jayden Seales to Josh Inglis, Just like he ended his previous over, a JAFFA! This is bowled on a length, just full of a good length and in the channel around off. This one pitches and nips away, only a bit but sharply and with some extra bounce. Inglis looks to block but the ball whizzes past the outside edge.
Justin Greaves to Cameron Green, FOUR! A rare loose delivery and the over ends on a high for Australia. Full toss, down the leg side, Cameron Green flicks it uppishly towards the square leg fence. Given the breeze, which is blowing from right to left at this end, probably Greaves was trying the glory ball, aiming to land the ball around middle and get it to move away from there.

The ball rolls behind and by the time first slip can get to it, the batters take a bye.
Jayden Seales to Josh Inglis, Probably sliding down leg. Seales goes wider on the crease, creating an angle that allows him to dart the ball into the batter. There is a loud appeal from the bowler, but no one else is that interested.

Which ball to be used in Test cricket? We have got 3 options - Dukes, Kookaburra and the SG. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Let's start with Dukes first, which is primarily used in England and is used in this series as well. It usually serves better in cold conditions, with the ball starting to swing after 8-10 overs. Then, after the 30th over or so, it stops moving and suddenly, post the 50th over, reverse swing comes into play. But the disadvantage of the Dukes ball is its durability, as it loses shape pretty quickly. Come to the Kookaburra. More durable than the Dukes, but definitely having a lot less swing. It moves specifically when it is new and after 15-odd overs, it is just a run fest for batters. Now, the SG. Not much swing with the new ball and even if there is any, it stops after 10 overs. But definitely assists the spinners and post the 60-over mark, reverses many a mile. So, out of all the three types, the Dukes is preferred just because there is more contest between bat and ball. But what about durability? Good for the manufacturers though.

Double bowling change. Justin Greaves gets the ball. Fourth seamer in this attack, not as quick as the first three, but take him lightly at your own peril. Travis Head can vouch for that. 9-2-26-1 in the first innings. Can get some away shape and has remarkable control.

Alzarri Joseph to Cameron Green, Beautiful from Alzarri! Full and shaping away a touch late, in the channel outside off. Green is lured into the drive as the ball goes past his outside edge. This is really bad. We are not even done with 15 overs and already, there is a need for a ball change. Australia had got it changed twice in their bowling innings. Alzarri Joseph just shows the ball towards the umpire who tries to push the ball through the 8-shaped hoop but the ball gets stuck. So that is the signal for the ball needing to be replaced and out comes the fourth umpire with a box of replacement balls.

Phew. Finally Shamar Joseph goes off the field and takes a well-deserved break, bowling 7 straight overs. Kevlon Anderson has come on as a substitute for Shamar. Meanwhile, the great Ian Bishop has a message for youngsters, especially from West Indies, wanting to contribute towards the game. Bish says that while this fast bowling unit of West Indies has done remarkably well over the two days, the greater challenge lies ahead, when the pitches start to get better and batters start getting comfortable at the crease. That's when, a bowler's patience is tested, as he needs to keep honing the threatening areas consistently for longer periods of time. So while this is good for now, remarks Bishop, he wants to see how will the bowlers adapt on flat tracks.

Shamar Joseph to Josh Inglis, Length ball wide outside off, Inglis doesn't bother chasing it.
Shamar Joseph to Josh Inglis, Length ball skidding off the surface, Inglis pushes it off the crease, into the leg side.
Great bowling. The graphic on air shows that nearly 60 percent of Shamar Joseph's deliveries have landed in the good length area in this innings, occasionally drifting towards that fuller length here and there. That will please bowling coach Ravi Rampaul a lot but even more so, the West Indian fans. Over the years, we have only been talking about West Indies as a strong batting unit, so it feels really nice when we see bowlers understanding the game from that region. And when it is a fast bowler, we are just reminded of their golden era.

Alzarri Joseph to Cameron Green, Mix up in the middle and West Indies almost had their third! Full and on middle, Green flicks it to mid on and calls for one, Inglis obliges, but then Green after watching the fielder quickly cutting it off, sends back Inglis. Josh puts his brakes on and then has to dive into his crease, as the fielder misses his shy from mid on, at the bowler's end. Replay shows that Inglis would have made it even if the throw had found its mark.
