IND vs SL 2nd Test Day 1, Highlights: Bumrah, Shami sizzle under lights; Sri Lanka 86/6 at stumps, trail by 166 runs

Virat Kohli collects his first boundary of the day off Lasith Embuldeniya and a huge roar from the fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Lovely use of the wrists from Kohli as he slammed Embuldeniya to the cover fence. 7 runs came from the Embuldeniya's sixth over as both Hanuma Vihari and Kohli look to steady the Indian ship.

Hanuma Vihari looking very comfortable against the Sri Lanka spinners. Once again he gets to the pitch of the ball and produces a lovely drive through covers, this time off Lasith Embuldeniya. 6 runs from the Embuldeniya over as India crosses the 50-run mark.

A lovely cover-drive from Hanuma Vihari to start the second over from Praveen Jayawickrama but the Sri Lanka spinner comes back strongly producing a couple of excellent deliveries. 7 runs came of his second over.

Not a good start from left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama after the drinks break. Leaks 8 runs in his first over including a boundary which Hanuma Vihari hit to the deep mid-wicket fence. First hour of the first session done and dusted. India have lost both its openers Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma cheaply. Hanuma Vihari (9*) and Virat Kohli (1*) in the middle right now, trying to steady the Indian ship.

What an over from Lasith Embuldeniya! He gets rid of the India captain third-ball into his second over of the day. A tossed up delivery and it spun away from Rohit Sharma after pitching. Took the outside edge and Dhananjaya de Silva made no mistake at second slip. One run and a wicket in the second over from Embuldeniya. India in a spot of bother now after losing both its openers inside the first 10 overs.

Another tight one-run over from Suranga Lakmal. Squared-up Rohit Sharma on the last ball of the over but it went along the ground to the gully fielder. We have only completed nine overs on Day 1 and we are already witnessing puff of dust coming off on a few occasions when the ball is landing on the pitch. It is also stopping on its way to the keeper when the pacers are operating. It will definitely be interesting to see how the pitch behaves under lights. A terrific first over from Lasith Embuldeniya. Turn for Embuldeniya right at the start of his spell. Got the outside edge of Hanumar Vihari on the last ball of the over but it fell short of the first slip fielder. Two runs from his first over. Suranga Lakmal to continue from the other end.

A tidy one-run over from Suranga Lakmal and we now see spin for the first time in this Test. Left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya comes into the attack in the 8th over. A slip and short-leg in place for him.

SIX!!! A monstrous strike from Rohit Sharma over the deep mid-wicket fence to end the over from Vishwa Fernando. On the pads from the left-arm pacer and what a strike that was from Rohit. The ball sails into the stands. 8 runs came off the third over from Fernando.

Another maiden over from Suranga Lakmal. He is bowling beautifully at the moment and getting to move the ball both ways. Hanuma Vihari giving his deliveries a lot of respect. Looking really patient at the start. Vishwa Fernando to continue from the other end.

A maiden from Suranga Lakmal followed by a decent 5-run over from Vishwa Fernando. Both the Lankan pacers have their tails up after getting the early success in form of Mayank Agarwal (run out for 4). Rohit Sharma and Hanuma Vihari begin the rebuilding process after the early setback.

Rohit Sharma starts off with a boundary first-ball of the over from Vishwa Fernando. But the fourth ball of the over proves to be fatal for Mayank Agarwal. He gets run-out for 4 as the India opener tries to sneak in a single while the Lankans were appealing for LBW against him. Mayank never got a response from Rohit at the non-strikers end. And he was never making it back in time after taking off. Gives up while returning! A big blow for India in the second over of the day. 6 runs and a wicket in it.

One change for Team India as a fit-again Axar Patel comes in for Jayant Yadav. A couple of changes for Sri Lanka as Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Kumara are not available for this Test. Kusal Mendis and Praveen Jayawickrama replace them.

India skipper Rohit Sharma wins the toss and opts to bat first against Sri Lanka in the Pink-ball Test.

Sri Lanka batsman Pathum Nissanka has been ruled out of the second Test against India due to a back injury, team's captain Dimuth Karunaratne confirmed on Friday. Addressing the virtual press conference on the eve of the second Test, Karunaratne also mentioned that Dushmantha Chameera, who sat out the first Test in Mohali, is also not available for selection as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury. As per Sri Lanka captain, Chameera's workload was being managed till the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled for October this year, and that the pacer would be available only for limited-over games in the interim period after his recovery.
