RCB W vs UPW W Highlights, WPL 2026: Grace Harris blitz leads RCB past Warriorz

RCB W vs UPW W Highlights, WPL 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru turned in a ruthless all-round performance as Grace Harris’ explosive batting powered a nine-wicket win over UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League. The chase was over almost as soon as it began, with Harris unleashing a ferocious assault that completely deflated the UPW bowling attack.

UP Warriorz, sent in to bat, began cautiously under pressure from Lauren Bell’s tight opening spell. The early phase brought limited runs and the dismissal of Harleen Deol, before the innings unravelled rapidly. Shreyanka Patil swung the momentum decisively in RCB’s favour by removing Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield in the same over, and Nadine de Klerk followed it up with two quick strikes to leave UPW reeling at 50 for 5.

From that position, Deepti Sharma and Deandra Dottin mounted a spirited recovery. Showing composure and awareness, the pair rebuilt patiently before attacking in the latter half of the innings. They added an unbeaten 93 runs, with Deepti anchoring the effort and Dottin providing timely boundaries. The final six overs yielded 67 runs, pushing UPW to 143 for 5 and giving their bowlers something to defend.

That hope disappeared quickly once Harris got going. She dismantled Deandra Dottin in a stunning powerplay over that cost 32 runs, clearing the ropes at will and racing to a 22-ball half-century. Harris continued her assault against spin, sending Asha Sobhana into the stands and helping RCB bring up 100 in just 7.5 overs, the second-fastest team hundred in WPL history.

At the other end, Smriti Mandhana batted with assurance and control, ensuring there were no hiccups. Harris eventually fell for a scintillating 85, but the job was long done. Mandhana stayed unbeaten on 47 as RCB completed the chase in 12.1 overs, boosting their net run rate and underlining their status as early title contenders.

Gone? Arundhati Reddy is claiming the catch. RCB are celebrating. Meg Lanning has been asked to wait. The ball has gone straight to hand, but was it grassed afterwards? Looks like it. The side-on angle confirms that the ball burst through Reddy's hands and came in contact with the ground. NOT OUT!

Shreyanka Patil to Meg Lanning, TAKEN! Or is it? Arundhati can do nothing wrong in the field tonight. There's an umpire's review for a fair catch, though. The replay shows that the ball has hit the ground. The third umpire requests another angle and that shows a clear picture that the ball has been grounded. Coming to the delivery, Patil dishes out an off-break delivery that grips in sharply from off with bounce. Meg Lanning mistimes her pull shot to square leg, where Arundhati Reddy is forced to dive in front as the ball dips on her. She tries to scoop the ball, but fails to do so.

All set to get going in the fifth game of the season. The umpires walk out to the middle, and a final few words are being spoken by Smriti Mandhana as the players of Royal Challengers Bengaluru form a huddle before spreading out. Interesting move from the Warriorz as Meg Lanning is accompanied by Harleen Deol to open the innings. It was Navgire who opened last time around. Lauren Bell has the new ball and is raring to go. Skipper Lanning to face. A catching gully in place. And 3... 2.... 1... Let's play!

19:13 (IST) Jan 12

The star all-rounder of the UP Warriorz, Deandra Dottin, is in for a chat. Dottin believes there is no need for panic after the first game of the tournament. She says nerves are expected early on and that it was not a bad performance, with plenty of positives to take despite the result. Deandra shares that it is a pleasure to be in the same team as Meg Lanning, calling her one of the great captains of the game. Jokingly says that she never enjoyed bowling to Lanning. Further says she tries to pick Lanning’s brain whenever possible and that the two are getting along really well. On the challenge of bowling at high-scoring venues such as the DY Patil Stadium, Dottin says bowlers need to back themselves and hit a hard length consistently, while ensuring their slower balls stay away from the full zone.

19:05 (IST) Jan 12

The captain of UP Warriorz, Meg Lanning, says they would have bowled first as well but adds that teams batting first have done well so far in the competition and their focus now is on batting well to give themselves a genuine opportunity to win. She says there was a lot to take from the opening game despite the loss, with the side staying in the chase for a long period and creating chances with the ball. Mentions that the group has spent a full week together and reckons that the first game with a new team is always a little chaotic. Informs that they are going with the same team as the last game.

19:04 (IST) Jan 12

The captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Smriti Mandhana, says that they won the previous game while chasing and that they have seen the dew playing its part later in the innings. Mandhana points out that DY Patil has traditionally been a good ground for chasing, where no total ever feels completely safe and that knowing the target always helps to pace the chase accordingly. Mandhana credits Nadine for getting the team through with both ball and bat in their last match, stressing that it is all about collective contributions and everyone wanting to chip in. She informs that they have one change to the side, with Gautami Naik coming in for Prema Rawat.

RCB vs UPW Live Score: Overseas players could decide outcome
Both teams have overseas options that could influence the game. RCB may choose between Linsey Smith and Georgia Voll as the fourth overseas player, weighing the need for an extra bowler versus batting depth. UP Warriorz rely on Deepti Sharma, Deandra Dottin, and Sophie Ecclestone to provide breakthroughs.

How these overseas players are deployed in the powerplay or middle overs could decide the match. With tight head-to-heads and both sides hungry for points, tactical decisions could have as much impact as individual brilliance, making Monday night a fascinating contest for fans and analysts alike.

RCB W vs UPW W Highlights, WPL 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered a statement performance in the Women’s Premier League as Grace Harris produced a breathtaking display of power-hitting to secure a nine-wicket win over UP Warriorz. Chasing a modest target of 144, RCB made light work of the conditions, riding on a dominant opening stand between Harris and captain Smriti Mandhana that left the contest virtually decided inside the powerplay.

UP Warriorz had earlier shown character to recover from a severe collapse. Reduced to 50 for 5 in the ninth over, they found stability through an unbroken sixth-wicket partnership between Deepti Sharma and Deandra Dottin. The experienced duo absorbed pressure before accelerating late in the innings, adding 93 runs to lift UPW to a respectable 143 for 5. Deepti remained unbeaten on 45, while Dottin supported her with a fluent 40 not out.

However, the total proved no match for Harris’ onslaught. The Australian tore into the UPW attack, bringing up the fastest fifty of the season off just 22 balls. A brutal 32-run over off Dottin during the powerplay set the tone as RCB surged ahead. Harris finished with a stunning 85 off 40 balls, laced with ten fours and five sixes.

Mandhana played the ideal supporting role, anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 47. Together, the pair added 137 runs for the opening wicket, allowing RCB to chase down the target in just 12.1 overs. The emphatic win not only handed RCB their second successive victory but also propelled them to the top of the WPL standings.
