RCB vs RR Highlights, IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals choke again in death overs as Bengaluru seal victory by 11 runs

RCB vs RR Live Score, IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru hope to get rid of their at-home troubles as they host Rajasthan Royals in match 42 of the Indian Premier League 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.

The Rajat Patidar-led side has been impeccable in the tournament and are currently third in the standings, tied with Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants on 10 points. RCB have been dealt with three losses this season with all of them coming at home.

Interestingly, RCB have not gotten the opportunity to chase in front of their home crowd and are unbeaten this season when bowling first. They have a strong and experienced pace attack in Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar while the cool heads of Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma take charge of the spin department.

One of the strengths of their batting lineup has been the serious depth they possess. With Phil Salt and Virat Kohli proving their mettle as a dangerous opening pair, Devdutt Padikkal and Patidar complete what can be described as a complete top order with big hitters in Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma and Tim David firing on all cylinders.

The Royals, on the other hand, suffered a narrow nine-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants where they failed to score nine runs in the final over. Rajasthan, who seemed in control of their chase before both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag lost their wickets under pressure in the death overs. The team ultimately failed to chase down a modest target and slipped to their fourth straight defeat in IPL 2025.

With just two wins in eight matches, the Royals now sit eighth on the points table. Their campaign, which started with promise, is quickly slipping away due to repeated failures in close contests. Their loss against Delhi Capitals earlier in the week was also marked by poor decision-making in a chase, that could have been wrapped up comfortably.

These two sides met earlier this season, on April 13, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium where the visitors had prevailed by nine wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 75 took the hosts to a respectable total of 175. In return, Phil Salt’s 65 runs followed by an unbeaten partnership by Kohli and Padikkal, took them past the finish line.

RCB vs RR: Squads
Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Rajat Patidar (capt), Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (w), Tim David, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Suyash Sharma, Yash Dayal, Devdutt Padikkal, Rasikh Dar Salam, Manoj Bhandage, Jacob Bethell, Swapnil Singh, Lungi Ngidi, Romario Shepherd, Nuwan Thushara, Mohit Rathee, Swastik Chikara, Abhinandan Singh.

Strategic Break! With 66 runs needed off 36 balls, this contest is perfectly poised for a thrilling finish! Rajasthan Royals have done the hard yards to build a solid platform in this chase, but a couple of quick wickets have thrown a bit of a curveball into the mix. There's still firepower left in the tank for RR, and on a surface like this, chasing down this remaining target is well within reach if they keep their nerves. But credit to RCB - they’ve pulled things back brilliantly in the last few overs, tightening lines and building pressure. One more wicket here, and the momentum could swing hard in RCB’s favour. It's all about handling the pressure from here on. Seems like we’re in for a nail-biting finish.

Jitesh Sharma calls for the catch, keeps his eyes locked in and takes a good catch to the right of the pitch.

Replays show that Suyash Sharma picked up the ball with his cap. Thankfully for him, the ball was dead, otherwise that could have been 5 penalty runs. Anyway, Krunal Pandya is finally given the green light to start his spell.

RCB vs RR Live Score, IPL 2025: Still reeling from a chastening home defeat to Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) struck back inside two days, humbling Shreyas Iyer’s side on their own turf. The rapid rebound preserves a curious pattern: after eight outings this season, Faf du Plessis’s men remain unbeaten in five matches on the road yet winless in three at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Historically, RCB’s home success rate hovered below 50 percent, and three consecutive losses have dragged it further.

Adding salt to Bengaluru’s wounds is the sight of ex‑RCB heroes thriving against them. KL Rahul’s calm finishing, Mohammed Siraj’s incisive new‑ball bursts, and Yuzvendra Chahal’s guile have each proved decisive in inflicting damage on their former franchise.

Thursday night’s visitors, Rajasthan Royals, arrive nursing problems of their own. The 2008 champions have slipped to four straight defeats, repeatedly squandering dominant positions. Captain Sanju Samson’s injury and stand‑in leader Riyan Parag’s struggles with both bat and tactics have amplified the slide.

Yet Rajasthan field familiar faces capable of turning the screws in Bengaluru. Leg‑spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, once RCB’s strike weapon, and big‑hitting left‑hander Shimron Hetmyer both have points to prove. Overseeing them is hometown icon Rahul Dravid. Still moving gingerly after injuring his leg in a local KSCA league game, the mentor knows Chinnaswamy’s idiosyncrasies better than anyone.

Dravid admitted, “We know we must play well to be still alive in this tournament. You need to play well in critical moments, and it hasn’t happened to us. Every game from here on is very important, and we’ve got to try and play the best cricket we possibly can and hopefully get the result.”
