Naseem Shah to Ollie Pope, OUT! TAKEN! PLUCKED FROM THIN AIR! ABSOLUTE SCREAMER! Pakistan wouldn't have expected for a better start than this! Naseem Shah bowls it on a hard length, slightly nipping into the batter from middle, Ollie Pope positions himself on the back foot and pulls it flat in an attempt to get it past mid-wicket. He hits it hard and in the air towards the right of mid-wicket where Aamer Jamal dives to the direction of the ball and takes a wonderful one-handed catch in the air to dismiss the English skipper. Disappointment all over Pope's face as he departs on a two-ball duck. All the Pakistan players flock around Jamal and are all pumped up, and why not!

DAY 1 STATS
DAY 1 STATS

Pitch report | Bazid Khan: The last Test played here was Pakistan v England, and Abrar got a 11-fer. But it's a different look to the pitch this time. There's a lot of grass, plenty of grass. But if you have a closer look, it's still quite dry. That means the grass is there to help the pitch remain intact. There might be seam, swing up front. But I reckon spinners will have a role to play.
10:14 (IST) Oct 07
Ollie Pope: I came prepared (to captain) if Stokes is not available. The conditions are hot, the hottest I might have played in, ready for the challenge. I would have batted first as well. Little bit of moisture and hopefully we can make use of that in the first hour. He (Carse) has played some white-ball cricket for England and now we are excited to see how he goes about in Test cricket.
10:14 (IST) Oct 07
Shan Masood: We are going to have a bat. We asked for a good cricket wicket. Both teams are stacked with good batting line-ups. We have been in winning positions and not won from there, it has caused some hurt amongst the team and the cricket fraternity. We want to get back to winning ways and hopefully these bunch of guys can do that.
